Our successful bid for The Hertford development

De Group Contracting have successfully secured the contract for an ambitious project located at Park Lane Mews: The Hertford and The Residents at The Hertford. This complex undertaking involves a variety of intricate tasks across multiple locations, including 2-6 and 16 Stanhope Row, 36 and 37 Hertford Street, and 16 and 17 Market Mews.

The extensive scope of work covers a range of activities such as full and partial demolition, detailed design work, preservation of heritage structures, a structural openings package, groundworks, substructure and superstructure installations, part refurbishment, new façade construction, and fit-out to the front of house, guest rooms, and residential spaces upon completion of the building reconfiguration.

The robust plans encompass a holistic makeover and extension of the existing 2-6 Stanhope Row building into an 82-room hotel, featuring a signature restaurant, lobby bar, cafe, and a private members’ space. Additionally, the Grade II listed 36 Hertford Street building will yield nine new prime apartments, while 37 Hertford Street will host seven new prime apartments.

Jigsaw in Mayfair

In the heart of Mayfair, the iconic landmark at 2-6 Stanhope Row, known for its 75 completed bedrooms in 1972 under the former name Park Lane Mews Hotel, features a ground-level public passageway leading to Shepherd Street.

The Grade II listed 36 Hertford Street, dating back to the 1700s and positioned at the site’s corner, will undergo a meticulous process of removing its unlisted elements, particularly the mansard roof at the rear, to ensure the preservation of the listed fabric.

Conversely, 37 Hertford Street, a post-WWII rebuilt apartment building, will be replaced with a new structure as part of the development, given its lack of listing status.

The properties at 16 Stanhope Row and 16-17 Market Mews, once dedicated to residential use, are currently vacant and in a state of disrepair, calling for demolition.

Market Mews 17, having suffered fire damage, presents unique challenges, requiring careful consideration of safe access during the demolition process.
